I've always liked the word "caprice". I'm not the most impulsive person you'll ever meet, but I do enjoy, for example, allowing my impulses to dictate which book I'll read next (I know - RISKY!). The collages I make are all about caprice...maybe that's what the creative impulse is in fact all about. Maybe that's why I like the word.
Definition of CAPRICE
1.
a: a sudden, impulsive, and seemingly unmotivated notion or action
b: a sudden usually unpredictable condition, change, or series of changes <the caprices of the weather>
2. a disposition to do things impulsively
This is a picture of my parents... perhaps they made me, at some point after this picture was taken. I'm adding this photo to my blog on a whim. Oh, the craziness.
And now my father.
And now my mother.
Now you see why they were collapsed into each other in the first photo. I'm just winging this, in case you haven't figured that out already.
Caprice is also dictating the addition of this photograph by Milton Rogovin (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/19/arts/design/19rogovin.html?_r=0).
I just like it. It has nothing to do with my parents.
That's all for now.
I love this post... the pictures are so beautiful. Caprice = subconscious?
